Webcast Appeal

The Association launched an appeal in earlier this year via our Choir Trust, which is a registered charity, to raise funds to finance the installation of recording equipment in the Quire and the Nave of Rochester Cathedral to enable choral services to be broadcast on the Internet. Rochester Cathedral Choir continues to maintain a high standard and tradition of choral music.

The Committee wanted to update you regarding the current position of the appeal. We are very grateful to all members, individuals and organisations who have already donated. The Cathedral has recently agreed a new five year strategic plan, which sets out a number of objectives and aspirations for the coming years. Infrastructure forms part of this plan and the Cathedral will be looking at, for example, lighting and sound and the current systems and how they might be improved going forward. Webcasting could be an integral part of that, but it is important to have an overall approach to avoid the situation where hardware is installed only to be replaced by something else later on. The Chapter is enthusiastic about the possibilities of webcasting and very grateful to the RCOCA for its generous support and looks forward to working with us as the Cathedral’s requirements are formulated over the coming months. The Committee has therefore agreed to continue with our fundraising efforts and will support the Cathedral financially in respect of improving the sound system capabilities when requested to do so.

A fund has been set up at STEWARDSHIP and you can contribute online by credit or debit card either for a one off gift or several small pledge payments. You can access the STEWARDSHIP website at www.give.net/20214100 . STEWARDSHIP will reclaim 25% in Gift Aid for us (less a small administration fee). Alternatively, cheques are always welcome and should be in favour of Rochester Cathedral Old Choristers’ Association and marked on the reverse ‘Appeal’ and sent to either the Chairman or Secretary.

Your Committee hope you will be kind enough support this initiative by making a donation to our appeal. Even a small amount will be very much appreciated unless of course you are feeling even more generous. If you have already donated – thank you.
